Padova

Scrovegni Chapel
St. Anthony's Basilica
Hi! Today my family and I took the train to Padua or as the Italians say Padova. We went sight seeing and saw the amazing St. Anthony's Basilica and Giotto's Fresco's in the Scrovegni Chapel. First I'll tell you about the Scrovegni Chapel. It was beautiful. It looked like there were hundreds of frescos in there. The color was also great. Very vibrant blues, golds, oranges, and reds. All the pictures had interesting stories also. There were lots of pictures of Judas and Mary. If you are in or around Padova come to see this amazing piece or artwork.
St. Anthony's Basilica was astounding! It was also huge. This building also had frescos but the really great things are the relics. There is one room in the back of the church with beautiful marble statues scattered around the area and relics everywhere. The relics stretched from the 13th Century to the present day. From entire silver and gold goblets to body parts, the relics were simply awesome. In this Basilica there is one of St. Anthony's cloaks and garments and his tongue, jaw, and his voice box! That is an awesome experience also.

Stay posted,
Nina
